The Tampa Bay Rays have now completed the first half of the 2013 MLB Season with a 55-41 record and are in first place in the wild card and as of now 3 games back in the first place Boston Red Sox. The team had a phenomenal run towards the end in the weakest part of their schedule going 12-2. The Rays went 9-1 in their home stand against the Astros and the Twins.
MVP- James Loney
.316 AVG 9 HR 43 RBI 39 R 3 SB
Loney has been an amazing contributor for the Tampa Bay offense and defense. The past couple years the Rays have shifted around who plays 1st but now we have a player that can play it day in and day out 90% of the time errorless.
LVP- Roberto Hernandez
5-10 4.90 ERA 18 G 108.1 IP 59 ER 84 SO
Hernandez has had the worst luck out of the 24 other men on the roster. His stuff is there but he hasn’t been able to put it together like everyone else. In the 2nd half of the season, he possibly may be heading to be the long reliever of the Rays just because Alex Cobb is on his way back and Chris Archer is looking like he will be in the rotation for the rest of the season leaving Hernandez as the odd man out.
Under the radar MVP- Alex Torres
3-0 0.34 ERA 16 G 26.1 IP 1 ER 33 SO
Torres is truly become one of Joe Maddon’s secret weapons in a game coming out of the bullpen. Torres has allowed only one earned run in 16 games. Outstanding. Look for him to continue being a consistent reliever heading into the postseason.
Wild Prediction- Wil Myers will win Rookie of the Year
Trade Deadline Prediction- Friedman does one trade, acquires a piece that will help in the coming years.
Special Congratulations to Ben Zobrist (2B/SS/RF), Matt Moore (LHP), Chris Westmoreland (Equipment Manager, Home Clubhouse), Jose Fernandez (Assistant Manager, Home Clubhouse), Guy Gallagher (Visitors Clubhouse Manager), and Ron Porterfield (Head Athletic Trainer).
Chris Archer throws first CG and CG shutout against the Astros on 7/14/13
David Price since his return from Triceps Injury- 2-1 3 G 25 IP 3 ER 18 K’s
Kelly Johnson has put up great numbers in the first half being a versatile player in playing 2nd base, 3rd base and Left Field
.236 AVG 13 HR 44 RBI 30 R 7 SB
Enjoy the All Star break Rays fans. Until then.

I am an avid sports fan, and my favorite sport of all is baseball. Baseball is my true love and passion. The rays have become my favorite team for the dedications the organization has to become successful. All the players and coaches and executives of the organization are people I look up to and someday I hope to become a MLB general manager for any of the 30 teams. I hope everyone that reads my blog enjoys what's on it and if there are any questions, comments or concerns. Just email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
